The abducted headmaster of a primary school in Oyo State, Mr. Mathew Owoade, has regained his freedom after sustained security operations forced his captors to abandon him.
Owoade, a 60-year-old farmer and headmaster, was kidnapped on Saturday along the Igbojaye–Budo Aare bush road in Itesiwaju Local Government Area.
Confirming the development, the Oyo State Police Command said a coordinated operation involving security agencies mounted intense pressure on the abductors, compelling them to flee and leave the victim behind on Monday evening.
Police spokesperson CSP Adewale Osifeso said the rescued headmaster has been taken to a medical facility for examination and treatment before being debriefed to assist ongoing investigations.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Olugbenga Abimbola, commended the efforts of security personnel and the cooperation of local residents, assuring the public that security agencies remain committed to tracking down the kidnappers and ensuring they face justice.
The latest rescue comes days after security forces freed pupils and teachers abducted from Community High School in Oriire Local Government Area, underscoring intensified efforts to tackle kidnapping and restore security across Oyo State.
