Prominent Nigerian industrialist and educationist, Chief Olatunde Ayinla Abudu, has passed away at the age of 96.
The Egba high chief and respected social figure died on Monday at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
In line with Islamic traditions, his remains were interred the same day within the premises of Nobel House College, Abeokuta — an educational institution he founded.
The Chief Imam of Egbaland, Saad Bamgbola, led the Janazat prayer, attended by distinguished dignitaries including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator Shuaibu Salisu (Ogun Central), former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, and former UK High Commissioner to Nigeria, Sarafa Tunji Isola.
Obasanjo described Abudu as “the greatest industrialist in Abeokuta and Ogun State,” adding that his legacy would be difficult to replicate.
Echoing similar sentiments, Amosun praised the late Abudu’s commitment to Abeokuta and Nigeria at large.
“He gave his all to us in Abeokuta and Ogun State. There is hardly anything meaningful that happened in Abeokuta without his involvement,” Amosun said, also recalling the elder statesman’s candid counsel during his time in office.
Chief Abudu was widely regarded for his contributions to industry, education, and community development.
