Emmanuel Amoo, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), and his associate, Fortune Vaughan—currently a Master’s student in Architecture—have emerged winners of the Federal Government of Nigeria ₦50 million Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG).
The initiative, driven by the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with the Bank of Industry (BOI), is designed to support student-led innovations and entrepreneurship across Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Amoo, a graduate of Mining Engineering, and Vaughan submitted two separate startup ideas—VeriProp and CampusAparte. Both projects progressed through a highly competitive selection process that attracted over 30,000 applications nationwide.
Following multiple stages of screening and evaluation, CampusAparte was selected as one of the 45 winning ventures and awarded an equity-free grant of ₦50 million to support its development and expansion.
Speaking on the achievement, Amoo expressed excitement over the milestone, noting the rigorous selection process that led to the final award.
“We are thrilled to announce that CampusAparte emerged as one of the 45 winners selected from the 65 finalists. We were honored with an equity-free grant of ₦50 million, presented by dignitaries including the Honorable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa; the Honorable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, and other distinguished leaders,” he said.
According to him, the journey began on March 21, when he received confirmation of selection as one of the 65 finalists invited to a bootcamp organized by Afara Initiative at the UNDP Innovation Center in Lagos, the programme’s implementing partner. The bootcamp featured intensive project evaluations, mentorship sessions, and a “Shark Tank”-style pitching exercise before a panel of judges over four days.
CampusAparte is a proptech platform designed to address challenges in student accommodation, including insecurity, fraud, and verification gaps. The platform connects students, parents, landlords, and school administrators through verified listings, secure escrow payment systems, and AI-powered roommate matching. The model mirrors similar systems already operational in countries such as the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Expressing gratitude, Amoo commended the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting youth innovation and entrepreneurship.
Looking ahead, he noted that CampusAparte will be driven by a founding team comprising himself, Fortune Vaughan, and Marvellous Kolawole, with a strong focus on rapid onboarding of students, parents, and landlords.
The team has also encouraged the public to engage with the platform via https://campusaparte.com as they scale operations and expand their user base.
