Alumni of Ilorin Comprehensive High School, Kwara State, have marked the school’s 30th anniversary with the inauguration of projects aimed at improving teaching and learning.
The projects, inaugurated by the National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), AbdulMumin Malik, included the refurbishment of two blocks of five classrooms by the alumni association, the renovation of a two-classroom block by the 2004 set, and the installation of four solar-powered street lights by the 2005 set.
President of the Alumni Association, Jimoh Mustapha, said the projects were executed through collaboration with IEDPU and the school’s Board of Governors.
He reaffirmed the alumni body’s commitment to sustained stakeholder engagement and resource mobilisation to improve infrastructure and promote the overall development of the school.
The anniversary celebration also featured the official naming of Ilorin Comprehensive High School Street.
While inaugurating the projects, Malik pledged renewed support for the school, noting that improved coordination, accountability, and visible progress under the current alumni leadership had restored confidence in the school’s management.
“We are now ready to fully support the school. What we are seeing today shows seriousness, organisation, and genuine commitment to growth,” he said.
At a luncheon and award ceremony held later at the IEDPU Secretariat, guest lecturer Prof. Fatai Aremu urged the school to leverage its alumni network for sustainable development through mentorship and capacity building.
Highlights of the event included awards to pioneer teachers and distinguished alumni for their roles in strengthening the alumni association and supporting the school’s growth.
