The Federal Government has opened applications for the second cohort of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme, as part of efforts to equip Nigerian youth with practical, job-ready skills.
The Federal Ministry of Education announced that applications commenced on Monday, April 13, 2026, inviting interested Nigerians to enrol in the nationwide initiative aimed at boosting technical capacity and tackling unemployment.
Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, described the programme as a strategic intervention aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, focused on human capital development and sustainable livelihoods.
He noted that the initiative is designed to provide young Nigerians with industry-relevant skills that support self-employment, innovation, and long-term economic growth.
“In strengthening this programme, the Federal Government is investing in the productive capacity of our youth. By providing practical training and recognised certification, we are creating pathways for self-employment and national development,” he said.
As part of its expansion, the ministry is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism to include training in creative and cultural industries, unlocking more opportunities within Nigeria’s growing creative economy.
The programme offers six-month and one-year hands-on training across accredited centres in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Participants will receive a monthly stipend of ₦22,500 and a nationally recognised certificate upon completion.
Training areas include construction, ICT, automotive technology, agriculture, creative media, fashion, cosmetology, tourism, catering, and leather works, among others.
Applicants are required to demonstrate commitment to the programme and must participate fully throughout the training period. Attendance will be tracked through biometric systems, and stipends will only be paid to compliant trainees.
Interested candidates are also required to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) during registration.
The ministry urged eligible Nigerians to apply through the official portal and take advantage of the opportunity to gain marketable skills and improve their economic prospects.
