Education stakeholders from across Northern Nigeria are set to converge on Kano for a regional conference focused on improving how schools operate and deliver learning.
The All Northern Schools Conference 2026 is scheduled to hold from May 5 to May 7, bringing together policymakers, school owners, administrators, investors, and development partners from the 19 Northern states.
The event will take place at Afficient Grand Marquee and Maryam Abacha American University, Kano, with over 1,000 participants expected from both public and private education sectors, alongside technology experts and education-focused entrepreneurs.
The conference will feature keynote speeches, panel sessions, exhibitions, and technical discussions.
Key areas of focus include modern teaching methods, school funding models, policy alignment, and strategies to improve learning outcomes.
Convener of the conference, Dr Hadiza Nuhu Yusuf Baba, Founder of Intercontinental Schools, Kaduna, said the initiative is designed to reposition schools in the region to better respond to emerging challenges.
She noted that the conference aims to move beyond dialogue by offering practical solutions that school leaders can implement.
“Northern schools must be empowered to lead in innovation, sustainability and impact. This conference will serve as a launchpad for fresh ideas, strategic partnerships and collaborative action that will change how education is delivered across the North,” she said.
Organisers added that the event will also create opportunities for partnerships between education providers, investors, and development actors.
The focus, they said, is on driving long-term growth and innovation in the sector.
The conference comes amid ongoing concerns about the need to modernise education systems in Northern Nigeria, particularly in areas such as digital learning, infrastructure, and teacher development.
It is expected to conclude with a set of recommendations aimed at strengthening coordination among stakeholders and guiding policy direction across the region’s education system.
