The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has debunked a widely circulated result slip claiming that a candidate scored 396 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), describing it as entirely fake.
In a statement issued by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the Board expressed concern over the spread of the fabricated result, noting that it was surprising that such misinformation could be shared by well-informed Nigerians.
According to the Board, one of the most obvious indicators of the fraud is the format of the result itself. JAMB emphasized that UTME results are currently “view-only,” meaning candidates can only access their scores through official channels, not via downloadable or printable slips as seen in the viral document.
The statement further pointed out that the registration number on the fake result does not align with JAMB’s system-generated format. Specifically, the sequence “20269” found on the slip does not conform to the Board’s official numbering pattern.
JAMB also highlighted multiple inconsistencies in the document, noting that even a cursory review reveals clear signs of manipulation and inauthenticity.
The Board has therefore urged the public to disregard the fake result and avoid spreading unverified information. Candidates and stakeholders are advised to rely solely on official JAMB platforms for accurate updates regarding UTME results.
At the time of this report, all 2026 UTME results remain accessible only through the Board’s approved “view-only” system.
