Primary schools across Ogun State resumed for the third term of the 2025/2026 academic session on Monday, as the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) carried out monitoring visits across the state’s four divisions to evaluate preparedness of teachers, learners, and school administrators.
The Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Evangelist Ifede Olalekan, called on teachers to intensify efforts toward boosting school enrolment, engage parents to ensure the return of out-of-school children, and promptly commence academic activities.
He was represented during the exercise by Permanent Member III, Hon. Abiodun Ajayi, who also charged teachers to remain dedicated to quality instruction. He emphasized that improvements in learners’ reading, speaking, and writing skills should reflect enhanced teaching standards.
The monitoring team expressed satisfaction with the level of readiness observed in visited schools, noting that teachers were present at their duty posts while pupil turnout was generally encouraging.
Some headteachers, including Mrs. Fausat Nasir of St. Joseph RCM Primary School, Abeokuta North, and Mrs. Omowunmi Enitan of Yewa South Primary School II, Ilaro, described the turnout as impressive. They appreciated the SUBEB monitoring visit and noted that teaching activities would begin immediately after environmental sanitation, with two days allocated for welcome tests.
Schools visited during the exercise included St. Luke’s Anglican Primary School, Ibara Orile; Christ Church Primary School and Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School, Imasayi; as well as Yewa South Local Government Primary Schools I and II, Ona Ola, Ilaro.
