The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology has expelled eight students for examination malpractice following investigations into offences committed during the first semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The decision was contained in a letter signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Mr Eli Gbadufu, and made available to journalists in Lokoja on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the expulsions were approved by the university Senate during its 30th regular meeting held on April 29, 2026.
The university explained that the affected students were found guilty after investigations conducted by the Examination Misconduct Committee in line with the institution’s academic regulations as stipulated in the Student Handbook.
The expelled students cut across different departments and levels, including Economics, Library and Information Science, Mining Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, and Agricultural Science.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy on academic dishonesty, the institution stressed its commitment to maintaining high standards of academic integrity and discipline.
The management also urged students to conduct themselves in accordance with the university’s rules and avoid actions capable of undermining the credibility of its academic process.
According to the statement, the action reflects the university’s determination to preserve the value of its certificates and sustain discipline as it continues to expand as Kogi State’s science and technology institution.
