The Federal Government has launched a digital school monitoring dashboard for the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT UBEB) as part of efforts to improve supervision, accountability, and data-driven decision-making in the basic education sector.
The platform, powered by the Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI), was developed by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education. It is designed to provide education administrators with real-time information on school operations and performance across the FCT.
Speaking during the official handover ceremony in Abuja, the Director of Information and Communication Technology at the Federal Ministry of Education, Zainab Abukur, who represented the Minister of Education, said the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the administration’s drive for digital transformation in public service delivery.
According to Abukur, the dashboard will enable education managers to remotely access accurate and up-to-date data on schools, reducing reliance on routine physical inspections while promoting quicker and more evidence-based decision-making.
She noted that the deployment of the digital tool reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to building a more transparent, efficient, and responsive education system that prioritizes accountability and improved learning outcomes.
Receiving the dashboard on behalf of FCT UBEB, Acting Chairman Florence Wenegeme described the initiative as both timely and strategic. She said the platform would strengthen oversight of schools within the territory and enhance service delivery in the education sector.
Following the handover, a technical team demonstrated the dashboard’s features and operational capabilities, highlighting its role in school monitoring, data management, and performance tracking.
The development marks another step in the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to leverage technology to improve governance and strengthen the quality of basic education across the country.
