The management of Interlink Polytechnic has announced the temporary closure of the institution following the tragic death of one of its students in a motor accident.
In an internal memorandum dated May 13, 2026, and signed by the Student Affairs Officer, Mr. L. A. Balogun, for the Registrar, the institution expressed regret over the unfortunate incident, which reportedly claimed the life of a student on Wednesday.
The memo stated that the closure was in honour of the deceased student and as an act of condolence to the bereaved family and the entire school community.
“The Management of Interlink Polytechnic regrets to inform all students of the unfortunate passing of one of our students as a result of a motor accident that occurred today,” the statement read.
Students were also advised to remain calm and prayerful during the difficult period, while academic activities are expected to resume on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
The development follows reports that the deceased, identified as Adeife Oluwaseun, a final-year student of the Mass Communication Department, was involved in a fatal accident while allegedly rushing to complete payment procedures for his examination.
The incident has generated widespread reactions among students and residents, with many calling on the institution to improve its payment system and prioritize student welfare to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Meanwhile, condolences have continued to pour in from classmates, friends, and concerned stakeholders who described the student’s death as painful and heartbreaking.
